Self reflection and peer evaluation plays an important role in improving the process.I have attributes which the Action Research demands as before going to teach in the class, I prepared my lesson plan in advance, keep the materials ready for demonstrations or activities to be performed in the class.I think openly and pen down what thing works well and what not and those which did not worked well, howit can be further improved.

An action research practitioner or a Teacher- researcher should be tranquil in mind and must possess a clear critical thinking ability to identify the problem. we should be able to analyze the problem, think of an immediate solution and in the process of identifying the solution, apply qualitative analytical methods. For Action research one has to take care of a particular situation, if there is a need to change the way of practice in order to get better outcome in the form of understanding of the contents of the learners. It should be done systematically and scientifically in a very pre- planned way. It must be persuasive, collaborative, participatory i.e involve yourself and also take the views of other stakeholders. Always assess the outcome of the action research so that it could be derived that whether it would be beneficial to the students.

DeleteTo do Action Research, one should be willing to accept that there is a need for change in their approach to teaching. One should also not be afraid of trying out new methods of teaching. He/she should be able to try out multiple methods, because what we plan might not work, so we should be able to tweak it to suit our needs. We should also involve our colleagues to participate in our intervention. I think these are the attributes that I have and I think I will be able to do it.

Action research is an approach to educational research that is commonly used by educational practitioners to examine and improve their pedagogy and practice. In this way action research is a reflection that a teacher employs on a daily basis in their classroom. When students are actively engaged in learning, the classroom will be dynamic and uncertain and demanding the attention of the teacher. Considering these demands, teachers are often able to engage in that which is fleeing and for the purpose of accommodation, modification or formative assessment. Action research offers one path to more deliberate, substantial, and critical reflection that can be documented and analyzed to improve a teacher's practice.

Through action research, teachers learn about themselves, their students, their colleagues, and can determine ways to continually improve. an action researcher should be unbiased, open minded, trustworthy and have the quality of collaborating with his partners to find the problem and look for it's solution by analysing it.
ReplyDeleteAn action researcher should be well connected to the students to identify the problems existing in the class relating to learning. Once the problem is identified there should be the desire to bring about changes and the urge to be experimental and try out various ways to bring improvement in the situation. Any plan of action should be well thought about in terms of usability ,sensitivity, objectivity, reliability and validity. Data and implemented processes should be well analyzed to draw conclusions. Findings should be reflected upon.

Appropriate tools must be used in order to collect real data and must have honest approach to analyse the data. After finding must have capability to share the things among teaching fraternity and reflection should be there to judge whether the findings solve the problems of existing situation.

An action researcher should be a keen observer. She should be able to identify the problem. Once the problem is identified, she should make certain hypothesis how the problem can be targeted and solved. After that she should be able to plan out systematic activities for the learners towards solving the problem. She should write her observations meticulously and honestly. Should discuss the problem with some colleagues. Also should discuss her observations and come to a conclusion whether the problem has been solved or not. She should be goal oriented. I definitely have these attributes to see myself as an action researcher.

ReplyDeleteThe basic quality an action research practitioner should have is problem solving attitude in an organised way and to implement the inference for testing.
I am confident about my conviction to learn AR, I have already identified few problems in my school for AR. I am eager to plan, research, find the methodical solutions and test them to improve the system. If the outcome does not match with the objective, then I have to revisit the problem, review and start it all again or modify trajectory.
An action researcher should first be able to accept that there are areas in his /her school /classroom practice which require to be worked on for better results.

They should be good analyst and should be able to understand the problem, be open-minded and discuss the problem with colleagues so that they can plan a systematic way of solving the problem through various activities and get improvised results.
