Kurt Lewin ’s approach of Action Research is a research method in which the researcher intervenes in and during the research. This serves two purposes: firstly, according to Kurt Lewin, it will bring about positive change and secondly knowledge and theory will be generated.
ReplyDeleteThe term was first suggested by Kurt Lewin as described. He described action research as ‘a comparative research on the conditions and effects of various forms of social action and research leading to social action’ that uses ‘a spiral of steps, each of which is composed of a circle of planning, action and fact-finding about the result of the action’.

Practitioner research is usually initiated by teachers from local issues arising from their practices.
DeleteIt should be manageable and doable by teachers themselves.
The practitioner research should be made public through presentations, journals articles, blogs, etc so that teachers become more responsible about their practice and give them a 'voice' in what they do.
Practitioner should examine issues of importance and relevance in their practice with the aim of improving

1. Preparing for an enquiry, framing a clear research question that should be able to answer within the time frame.
ReplyDelete2. Analyze the area of action research. For example: I have a group of children who are not doing as well as they could; we have an issue with them that we want to address… etc. Is my action research focused on a particular group of students or a whole class?
3. Create the plan on the basis of research question what outcome are we intending to achieve from the learners group.
4. Strategize the action plan with resources, evaluating the success of action through tools that includes formative assessments like oral interviews, quizzes, case studies etc.
5. Reflection through data analysis.
Action research is focused on immediate application, not on the development of a theory, not upon general application. Many Action Research projects are carried out in a classroom by a single teacher. As it becomes more extensive it becomes more similar to other types of educational research.
Pure research, also known as basic research, has no specific goal, but it advances the knowledge and contributes to the generation of new theories, principals and ways of thinking. Applied research, on the other hand, aims to solve a specific and practical problem

The action researcher must have the clarity of the problem to be worked upon. The complete focus towards the problem and involvement in the solution would lead to a positive output. Self confidence and ability to lead along with a patient year towards the criticism would help to achieve the targeted goal. Compassion, ability to identify, understand and evaluate should be the chief qualities of a good action researcher.
